Organisers of the second edition of Ate’s Soccer Championship tagged’Ate’s Cup’ have concluded an arrangement to kick off the tournament middle of next month at LSDPC football pitch, Ile-Iwe Metta, Isolo, Lagos.
This was disclosed at the recent meeting of the Local Organising Committee headed by Ibrahim Ajibola in Isolo, Lagos.
Speaking with our correspondent, Ajibola popularly known as Hadji confirmed that the cup donor, Fuad Akintunde is otherwise known as Ate Moni had given the committee go ahead start selling forms for the interested clubs saying that the competition would kick off next month tentatively with 16 teams format.
“We have decided in our last meeting to commence the second edition of Ate’s Cup by next month which by that time our government would have lifted the ban on football.presently the registration forms are out and I am happy that clubs are showing their interest. We still need more clubs in all parts of Lagos even beyond the state because this year’s edition would shake entire Isolo and Lagos at large,” he said.
Among the teams that have confirmed their participation are Sanyaolu FC, Sharon FC, Oloke FC, Larry FC, Banson FC, and Jogo FC.
The cup donor, Akintunde said the tourney is organised and sponsored to develop round leather game among the youths in Isolo and its environs.
“I am not sponsoring the tournament for political reason or popularity but I am doing it to develop and promote football among the clubs in Isolo and its environs. I wish all the participating teams best of luck in their outings,” he said.
