The much anticipated Gafaar Bolowotan memorial Gold Cup final scheduled to hold tomorrow has been postponed.
NTAP Vision Football Club are expected to battle Unizee Football Club in the final.
Chairman Ikorodu Divisional Football Association, Alhaji Lukman Sonibare in a chat with Sports247 confirmed that the postponment was necessary due to the APC walk for Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu political rally coming up tomorrow in Lagos.
Sonibare explained further that this is era of political campaign and the organisers are trying to avoid clash of programmes.
“Our cup donor, Alhaji Gafaar Bolowotan is a strong member of APC and he had instructed us to shift the competition because of APC programme on Saturday so we have informed the finalists and other football stakeholders to know the reason for the postponment,”he said.
Sonibare said the final ceremony would now hold on 30, October at the Strong Tower football pitch, Ikorodu and urged the two finalists to prepare for the final battle.
In order to make the final a memorable one, there would be a curtain raiser match between Ikorodu City and Joycometh FC by 1pm before the final ceremony.
Sonibare said the curtain raiser match would give an ample opportunity to the residents of Ikorodu to assess their darling team ahead of new season and urged them to come out emasse to give their support to the two Ikorodu clubs that are playing in NNL.
