Organizers of the 29 editions of the Oba Akran Cup football competition have confirmed 44 teams that are completed their registration forms ahead of the biggest football tourney in Badagry.
The competition is being organized by Badagry Division Football Coaches Council
Speaking with Sports247 in Badagry, Chairman Organising Committee, Marins Ibegbu Osondu said they are targeting 64 teams for the competition and noted that 44 teams have returned their registration forms ahead of the tournament.
“We have seen teams showing interest in our competition from various places in Lagos such as Ejigbo, Ikeja, Mushin, Surulere, and of course, we have teams from Badagry, Otto-Awori, and its environs. This is the biggest football competition in Badagry and we have selected more than 12 football pitches so that we can quickly complete the tournament,” he said.
Osondu said he is impressed with the number of clubs registered for the tournament saying that there is room for more clubs for the participants before the registration closes.
The much-awaited competition would kick off on 2, July across ten centers in Badagry and its environs.
