Ibadan Heroes Defeated Agbor Warriors 3-1 in Penalty Shootouts after full time and Extra Time ended 1-1 in the 2020 KG Sports Foundation Football for Love Cup Held to mark this year’s Valentine Day.
The Ibadan Heroes Took the lead in the 20th minute through Wisdom Rogers as the diminutive Midfielder’s Long Long ball trying to locate his Stricker Francis Omotunde upfront. Goalkeeper Joshua Kamelu rushed out to clear the ball but in a bid to avoid a clash with his onrushing defender missed kick the ball only for it to sail into an empty net.
Ibadan Heroes missed several chances to put the game to bury in the first half after Striker Francis Omotunde scuffled two great chances and Tony Eseka’s Shot was inches wide.
Agbor Warriors made the Ibadan Heroes Rue their missed First half Chances as they totally dominated the Second Hald with The Osas Brothers, Destiny, and Justice inspiring their side to get back into the game. Gabriel Goodluck held sway for the Agbor Warriors in Midfield creating several begging chances. The Team leveled scores in the 56th minute from the penalty spot. Destiny Uwezukwe was adjudged to have handled the ball in the Vital area after Prosper Ozegbe turned him and the Striker stepped forward to put the ball beyond the reach of Omoh Godswill in goal for the Ibadan Heroes.
Justice Osas missed clear chances to nick the game for the Agbor Warriors to extend the match to extra time.
Victor Thompson stepped up in the Extra Time Combining Beautifully with Utomi Godstime and Wisdom Rogers in the midfield but poor Marksmanship denied them of the winning goal as the match ended 1-1 apiece.
The resulting Penalty saw 14-year-old Omoh Godswill the hero after saving two and forcing one kick wide. Joshua Kamellu in goal for the Agbor Warriors Save one but was not enough as Ibadan Heroes win the tie 3-1 on Penalties.
Victor Thompson Was presented with the MVP award while Gabriel Good Luck carted away the Man of the Match award. Omoh Godwill received the Goalkeeper award while Ibadan Heroes were Presented with a Trophy and Cash award by KG Sports Foundation Director Dr. Ken Gadaffi Gabriel.
“Football is a passionate game, and on a day like this the world is celebrating Love, it was only befitting for us to bring these boys together to celebrate love on the field of play” Dr. Ken Gadaffi Explains
“If they are not on the field, they could probably join their peers engaging in other social vices that could negate the purpose of Valentine’s Day” he added.
