The Chairman of FWC Champions FC Pastor Yakubu Yola has noted that participating secondary schools and students in the forthcoming football tournament will have a lot to benefit at the end of the day.
This, he made known while fielding questions from journalists during the Press Conference that was held after the Preliminary Playoff Draws of the FWC Champions FCT Secondary Schools Football Tournament at the Counseling Room of Family Worship Centre, Wuye Abuja on Wednesday, October 2n,d 2019.
According to him, students will not only be exposed but will enjoy other benefits at the end of the day, including medals, certificates, and exposure to foreign scouts.
His words “The winners will have the opportunity for their players to further their careers, to expose them to people that will help link them up to other football clubs and other football opportunities outside this country. That is still in the pipeline, we are still working on it. So we will give them the opportunity.
“Secondly, the trophies are there, the medals are there and the certificates are there. There will also be a cash award that we are yet to decide. so we hope we will be able to make that known by the time we will be holding the press conference for the finals.”
Adding to his words, Mr. Promise Uwaeme, the Chairman LOC of the tournament hinted that most of the games would be streamed live on youtube which would be monitored by foreign partners, a development that could change the lives of the younger ones.
Affirming the gains of the tournament which will kick off later this month, he said exceptional students could also secure scholarships and helped through to professional football and contract deals.
Meanwhile, a total of 60 public schools across FCT are billed for the tournament in the first stage before a finals stage at the Champions Fortress- the home ground of FWC Champions FC.
