Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Henry Onyekuru has posited that his side will do well in the Europa League, because he believes they will correct all mistakes they made in the UEFA Champions League.
After dropping out of the European elite clubs’ competition into the second-tier contest, Onyekuru said Gala have nothing to be ashamed of, and insists they will do better in the lower echelon.Sports247.ng can further report that Onyekuru is taking stock of the run of results Galatasaray were able to pick up during six matches of the UCL, but says losing their last game at home was very painful to him.
Onyekuru was a second-half substitute in Tuesday night’s game, as the Turkish Super Lig champions fell at home in their last Group D match, but Idowu benched for all 90 minutes by Lokomotiv.
Onyekuru got off the bench in the 46th minute in place of Rony Donk, but his efforts fell short, as goals by Felipe, Moussa Marega and Sergio Oliveira were enough to send Porto into the next stage of elite contest.
The former KAS Eupen and RSC Anderlecht of Belgium attacker will now play in the Europa League, as his team finished third in the group, from which 1987 and 2004 winners, Porto and Schalke of Germany move into the UCL’s knock-out stage.
Onyekuru stated: “We want to represent in the Europa League in the best way by working on the mistakes we made in the Champions League ”We didn’t want to lose our last match. On the other hand, our performance and the fight we showed made me happy.
“We had some luck, we couldn’t evaluate some positions and we made simple mistakes. “We will try to correct our mistakes by working with our coach on these shortcomings.”
