Galatasaray of Turkey forward, Henry Onyekuru has confessed that his greatest fear in the round leather game is injury, which he admits has been a big problem for him in recent months.
After copping another injury during action for the Super Eagles against Libya last week, Onyekuru told sports247.ng that is earnestly hoping that it would not be another torrid time for him.
Onyekuru recounts how a similar injury stopped him from going to the World Cup in Russia and ultimately made him fall-out with officials at his former club, RSC Anderlecht of Belgium.
However, the product of Aspire Football Academy of Qatar said he believes he will finally overcome his blight with injuries and is looking forward to a better campaign at Galatasaray.
Onyekuru added that his biggest desire now is to have a good season with Galatasaray, which he knows he can only achieve by staying out of injury.
The former KAS Eupen of Belgium winger-cum-attacker, who is on loan at Gala from Everton of England, added that he also wants to be fully fit to get a call up to the Eagles for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Onyekuru stressed: ‘I am not happy that I keep on getting injured. I want to finally overcome these frequent injuries, so that I can enjoy my stay with Glatasaray.
“I also want to be fit enough to be invited for the Super Eagles next year, when the time come for the AFCON.
“That’s because I want to use the AFCON as a means to further excel in my career and meet up with the requirement to qualify for a UK work permit and return to Everton.”
