Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Henry Onyekuru has started a race against time to be fit for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa, as he seeks to regain full recovery before the match on November 17.
In his bid not to miss out on the match, despite being given an initial verdict that he will need six weeks to make a return to action, Onyekuru has already started training on his own.
Sports247.ng learnt that the former KAS Eupen and RSC Anderlecht of Belgium attacker, who is on loan at Gala from Everton of England, has returned to light training and believes he can start playing right away.
The 21-year-old attacker missed Galatasaray’s last two games after sustaining a hamstring injury at home to Bursaspor, but was already eyeing a return in time for his side’s clash away to Yeni Melatyaspor on Saturday.
Onyekuru, who was also not part of his side’s impressive goalless draw against Schalke 04 of Germany in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, has featured in 10 matches for Gala this term in all competitions, starting seven of those games and scoring twice.
