Onuachu Is Too Old For €15 m, Trabzonspor Chief Evaluates Super Eagles Forward

Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan has rejected the 15 million euros evaluation of Paul Onuachu by Southampton FC citing his age as a barrier, Sports 247 reports.

In a chat with NTVSport, the club president came out to state that they cannot pay more than 8 millions euros as sign on fee for Onuachu for he is his 30 years of age.

Trabzonspor has never hid their admiration to sign the tall Nigeria striker on permanent basis, since he joined the Turkish Super Lig club last season on loan where he helped them to a third place finish, with lots of goals which helped to snatch a continental ticket.

“Trabzonspor cannot give 15 million euros to a football player right now,”.

“Onuachu was a player who played for us on loan last season. His club insistently demands around 15 million euros. We offered 8 million euros with bonuses.” he told Tivibu Spor via NTV Sport.

Despite negotiations going south, the president believes a deal can still be done before the transfer window closes in Turkey on September 15, 2024.

‘ He was impressive with us last season however, Trabzonspor cannot make such an offer to a 30-year-old player. The last 2-3 days. The situation is clear. We will wait and see.”

Onuachu, who has returned to Southampton though declared surplus to requirements is being missed by Trabzonspors as the club are yet to score this season so far in the Turkiye Super Lig while they crashed out of qualification for the Europa League.
