Onigbinde, Amadu Mourn Late Taiwo Ogunjobi

Former Super Eagles coach, Chief Festus Onigbinde and ex-secretary-general of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Musa Amadu have both joined in morning the recent death of Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi.

Onigbinde, who is also a former FIFA Advisor on Technical Matters, and Amadu both expressed condolences on the passing of Ogunjobi, who was a former secrerary-general of then Nigeria Football Association (NFA) and chairman of Osun State Football Association till his death.

Sports247.ng gathered that Onigbinde, who coached the Eagles that feature Ogunjobi to silver at the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations and had a second tenure with another squad at Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup, said the respected administrator’s demise was a big shock to him.

Ogunjobi, who was also a former captain at Onigbinde’s former club, Shooting Stars of Ibadan, died in the Oyo State capital on Monday, 11th February, after a brief illness.

In his reaction, Onigbinde, fondly called Modakeke high chief, eulogised: “Words are inadequate to express the sorrow and grief that I feel.

“He was my player in the National Team and he later excelled himself in administration.
“I pray that God will grant his soul eternal rest and also comfort the family and friends that he has left behind.”
On his part, Amadu, who served as NFF deputy general secretary from 2006 to 2010, while Ogunjobi was member of the executive committee and technical committee chairman, said it is sad to lose an amiable man.
Amadu, who was NFF scribe between 2010 and 2015, added: “The news of Chief Ogunjobi’s death came like a thunderbolt.
“I found it difficult to believe. But what can we do? I pray that God will receive his soul and also grant those he has left behind, including the Nigerian Football family, the fortitude to bear the big loss.”
