Back-to-back National Sports Festival champions in Volleyball Ondo state(men) have failed to qualify for the 2022 edition of the multi-sports competition.
The qualifiers of team sports for the upcoming National Sports Festival billed for Asaba, Delta state took place across each zone in the country last week.
In Volleyball, favourite Ondo state missed out on qualification for the main event as Ogun and Lagos state picked the two Southwest slots available for male category.
Meanwhile, Oyo and Lagos state will represent Southwest in the female category.
For Basketball, Lagos and Ogun state qualified for the main event in the male category, while Ondo state and Lagos picked the female Southwest slot.
Lagos and Oyo state will represent Southwest in football events, both in the male and female categories likewise in Baseball.
Lagos and Ogun picked the male slots in Handball, while Oyo and Lagos will represent the region in the female category.
In Hockey, Lagos and Oyo state qualified for the male category as Lagos and Ogun will represent the zone in the male category.
Finally, Oyo and Osun state have progressed to the Beach Volleyball event in the male category, while Lagos and Oyo state clinched the female spots.
The 2022 National Sports Festival(ASABA 2022) is scheduled to kick off on 28th November to 10th December in Delta state.
