A member of Ondo State Football Agency (OSFA), Sunday Aladenika has charged Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) to sanction Abia Angels of Umuahia for an attack by their fans on the players, crew and fans of visiting Sunshine Queens of Akure.
Sports247.ng can report that Aladenika wants stiff sanctions enacted, after receiving a report that Sunshine Queens were attacked by fans in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
Aladenika called on NWFL to look into the incident and punish the offenders, who were said to have gone wild following a 1-1 draw between both clubs on Saturday.
It was alleged that the referee, Mariam Usman and other match officials were also attacked by irate fans with planks, irons and stones, while Sunshine Queens’ cameraman was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Aladenika said the Akure team officially wrote to all stakeholders in the state and the NWFL, to formally inform them about the attack.
He added: “We are demanding sanctions on Abia Angels, we want the management to award us three points and three goals of the match as a result of the attack on our team.”
