Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State, has announced a three-day period of State mourning in honor of the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, former Governor of Ondo State, who passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
The three-day period of mourning, accompanied by fasting and prayer, is set to begin on Thursday, December 28, and conclude on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

During this time, the people of Ondo State are encouraged to reflect on the legacy of the late former Governor and offer prayers for his eternal repose.
As a visible expression of mourning, all national flags in Ondo State will be flown at half-mast for a duration of seven days, symbolizing a collective reflection of the state’s somber mood in the wake of the passing of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also announced the suspension of State government ceremonies during this mourning period.
This decision reflects a commitment to honoring the memory of the late former Governor and acknowledges the emotional impact of his passing on the people of Ondo State.
In a gesture of solidarity and remembrance, condolence registers have been opened at the Governor’s Office, the Government House in Akure, and State Liaison Offices in Lagos and Abuja.
