Ondo FA Elections: Dele Ajayi Faces Tough Battle Against Ologbese, Abiodun, And Adetula

Ajayi, a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), secured victory over Akin Akinbobola in the last election after Ologbese withdrew from the race.

At the February 18th congress, the Ondo FA approved three voting delegates for the election: the incumbent chairman, the Coaches Association, and the Referees Society. However, the electoral committee on Wednesday disqualified the Coaches Association from voting, citing their failure to affiliate with the FA.

Among the candidates:

Dele Ologbese, former Secretary of the Ondo State Football Agency and current Chairman of the Akoko South-West Football Council.

Henry Abiodun, founder of H&B Global Sports.

Barrister Remi Adetula, current Chairman of the Owo Local Football Council and Vice-Chairman of Ondo FA.

Geopolitically, Ologbese and Adetula represent Ondo North, while Ajayi and Abiodun hail from Ondo Central. The crucial votes from Ondo South—comprising Okitipupa, Irele, Odigbo, Ilaje, Ese-Odo, and Ile-Oluji Okeigbo—could determine the outcome.

In addition to the chairmanship race, the vice-chairmanship position is being contested by Yomi Ogunlade, Demeji Abimbola, and Henry Akingboju. The battle for board member positions in different senatorial districts is also set to be keenly contested.

Ondo Central Board Members Aspirants: Olagunju Isaac, Akinyelure Tokunbo, Adetoyinbo Ibukun, and Akinbinu Babatunde.

Ondo South Board Members Aspirants: Babatunde Igbasan, Akindipe Akinsola, and Orola Segun.

Ondo North Board Members Aspirants: Temitayo Oladipupo, Mohammad Abiodun, Daodu Alexander, and Aborowa Gabriel.

The Local Football Council Elections will take place from 10 AM to 12 PM, while the State FA elections will commence at 2 PM at the Police Officers’ Mess, Akure.
