Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi has predicted that the Nigerian team, Super Eagles will win this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, because they have quality players and a good coach.
Sports247.ng can report that, in contrast with views that Onazi has fallen out with Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, the former SS Lazio of Italy battler is still rating the gaffer high and believes the Franco-German tactician is one reason why Nigeria have a chance of ruling AFCON 2019.
Onazi said Rohr can lead the Eagles to succeed in Egypt with his tactical acumen, which would be boosted by the high calibre of players on offer.
He, however, emphasized that the players have to stay focused and that the football federation should give them the best form of preparations, in order to ensure they emerge champions in Egypt.
Onazi stressed: “I believe we have a lot of talents in the team and also a good coach. It’s just to put it at the back of our minds that we are going there to lift the trophy.
“I know it’s still early days, but we need to show the belief before the competition and take it as it comes.
“The most important thing is for us to work hard and do what we know how to do best and prepare very well for every country that comes.”
