As the Nigeria Armwrestling Open Championship Oluyole 2025 kicks off at 10:00 a.m., the excitement among female athletes is at an all-time high.
Competing on International Women’s Day, these warriors of strength are not only feeling the love and support from fans but are also speaking tough about their mission—to secure Nigeria the best representatives for the upcoming 14th African Armwrestling Championship in Abuja.
The championship, taking place at Adamasinba Stadium, Ibadan, has attracted top female armwrestlers from across the country.
Nigerian women have historically delivered outstanding performances in the sport, contributing the highest number of medals for the country at previous African championships. With top contenders like Ndukwu Sandre, Blessing Ogungbure, Zanni Elizabeth, Mausi, Chidnma Udoeshi, and Chika Blessing in the lineup, expectations are high for another stellar showing.
Expressing her excitement, Zanni Elizabeth said, “The love we are receiving today is overwhelming, and it gives us even more motivation. We know the task ahead, and we are ready to fight for our country.”
Similarly, Blessing Ogungbure emphasized the need for excellence. “Nigeria needs its best at the African Championship, and we are here to prove that we are ready. We have done it before, and we will do it again,” she stated.
With the championship officially underway at Adamasinba Stadium, fans are encouraged to come out and witness some of the strongest women in Nigeria battle for a place on the national team.
