A player may be registered on List B if she is born on, or after, 1 January 2003 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since her 15th birthday by the time she is registered with UEFA.
Players aged 16 may be submitted if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years without interruption.
The 16-year-old Junaid, who is also eligible to represent the national teams of England and the United States, will sport the number 50 on the back of her jersey if she is named in the matchday squad to face Rangers.
She was a key member of the England squad at the 2024 UEFA Women’s U17 Championship, starring as the Young Lionesses qualified for next month’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
Junaid, who turns 17 next month, agreed on a fresh two-year deal at Arsenal before the start of the new season and has been promoted to the U21 squad for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons.
The winner of the Arsenal versus Rangers tie will do battle with either Atletico Madrid or Rosenborg on Saturday.
This opportunity represents a significant step in Junaid’s career, allowing her to compete at a high level and gain valuable experience. Playing in such a tournament can also help her make a mark and possibly earn more recognition, potentially leading to the future.
The inclusion of Omotara Junaid in Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League squad is a notable move that will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike. The match against Rangers promises to be a thrilling encounter.
