The on-going Nigeria Women Amateur League (NWAL) was livelier with goals and victories on matchday 2 after the opening matches on Wednesday ended on score draws.
At resumption of football hostilities on Thursday erstwhile top-flight side, Omidiran Babes predictably piped hard-fighting Naija Ratels with one unanswered goal at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
An early six minutes goal off the foot of the Osogbo side goal poacher, Joy Chukwu proved adequate to hand her side the precious three points at stake in the clash.
The hard fought victory helped the Osogbo side place second on the log though with one match less than her competitors.
The second match of the day between Ubakala Queens and Kwara Ladies ended 1-2 in favour of the llorin landladies.
The victory has now seen the llorin side climb to the NWAL log summit on four points after two matches.
Naija Ratels will have another opportunity to play themselves into reckoning and a chance to challenge for the topmost two promotion prizes when they square up against Moje Queens in matchday 3 matchup on Friday.
Moje Queens too will do themselves a lot of good by avoiding defeat in the clash if their dream for the top prize would not go up in flame.
Omidiran Babes will stake everything in themselves to challenge for the summit in their second match against the Umuahia-based side, Ubakala Queens.
A win for the former elite side will at least for the next 24-hour keep them at the summit as leaders, Kwara Ladies are on bye till Saturday.
The six-day football showpiece will produce two teams that would be promoted to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) pro-league at the end of hostilities on Sunday.
