Leganes of Spain defender, Kenneth Omeruo is set to miss a second straight match with the club he joined this summer, as he is in a race against time to join preparations for Wednesday’s fixture against Barcelona.
Omeruo was not involved with Leganes this past weekend, as sports247.ng can report that he took permission to settle some matters back home in Nigeria, which put him in doubt to resume training with the squad on Monday.
There are also worries about jet lag for Omeruo, as Leganes, who are the bottom team in the Spanish topflight, will train at their Butarque Sports facility on Monday evening ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Barca.
It could then be a second consecutive absence for Omeruo, who was not in Leganes’ side that lost 1-0 to Eibar in the latest round of La Liga matches because he did not train with the team for most part of last week.
Leganes’ boss, Mauricio Pellegrino has confirmed that Omeruo was absent because he had permission to travel to Nigeria to settle some personal matters.
Prior to the game at Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa, Omeruo made the matchday squad of 18 players for league games with Real Madrid and Villarreal, but did not get off the bench.
