Former Chelsea FC defender and Super Eagle’s player, Kenneth Omerua has lent his voice to Victor Osimen amidst the talk going around on a possible move to a super club in Europe.
Recently, Osimen has enjoyed the platform and attention of the media for putting in super performance for French side Lille which resulted in rumors of him wanting to move to bigger clubs in the premier league as well as the La Liga.
Osimen, 21, has earlier been reported wanted by Manchester United and Barcelona but there are also talks among gurus of the game that Osimen should remain in Lille so he could grow and develop to be a better striker.
Omeruo, in an exclusive interview with ElegbeteTv, told his compatriot to move and not wait for a second, that as an African, when such opportunity comes your way, you just take advantage of it. “…We are different from the foreigners . They can decided if a team wants them, he can say no, I want to stay in my present team and the next two season they will still want him. But as an African player if they want you, you have to go now.” Omeruo tells fans.
The former Standard Liege defender lays emphasis on the importance of seizing the day as a black player saying that such opportunity may not be there again in the next few years. He added that as a European you can grow in a club while putting on hold other clubs. “As a foreign player you can grow up the ranks with your present club. If a team wants him now I will say to Osimen, go …”
Omeruo however cautions his teammate to remain on the lips of pundits by working harder and not to feel that he has gotten to his destination yet even when he makes the awaiting move”…but still work heard and don’t feel like you are there yet.” Omeruo concluded.
Osimen has so far scored 18 goals for the French outfit this season before the corona virus pandemic halted footballing activities across the world.
