Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Youth & sports, Adesola Olusade has come out with a startling revelation that the recent 19th National Sports Festival did not generate money from broadcast rights and television coverage.
Olusade revealed in an interview with spors247.ng that, unlike what observers felt from seeing the festival hold with aplomb in Abuja, the ministry did not get any money from the broadcasting of the events.
He, however, went on to project that the next festival in Edo State will be different, as he says the ministry has learnt from the pitfalls of Abuja 2018.
Olusade stated: “It is unfortunate that we could not generate any income from broadcasting events of the recent National Sports Festival.
“We have, however, learnt from our setbacks and we now envisage generating broadcast funds going forward.
“We just have to understand that the festival has to be attractive, regular and organization perfect for funds to be generated from broadcasting and adverts.”
