The Jagaban football competition which was held in Lagos last week has come and gone but some of the club owners and coaches who took part in the four days tournament have commended the Organisers for a job well done.
Smart City emerged the champions after defeating Messiah 5-4 in a penalty shootout. The final ended barren draw at regulation time before it went into penalties.
In a statement issued by the Director of Olukismet Football Club Of Ekiti, Prince Olumide Adegboye Festus through the secretary of the club, Ogundipe Bright Abiodun described the just concluded Jagaban Cup as a well-organized football tournament that gave the young players an opportunity to showcase their talents.
Festus commended the organizers for the success the competition recorded and noted that all the participating teams really gave a good account of themselves throughout the tournament.
“Let me officially and on behalf of the staff and management of Olukismet FC, I congratulate Alhaji Gafaar Olawale Liameed for successfully hosting Jagaban Cup in Lagos.
“We are happy to be among the teams that took part in the competition.I also thank our coaching crew, players, and administrative staff for working round the clock for the betterment of the club.
“Once again the organizers have done well in all aspects and I wish them successful future football competitions,” the statement reads.
Meanwhile, the head Coach of De-potters Academy of Epe, Kareem Paul hailed the organizers for the superb organization and media coverage saying that the competition was rated one of the best football grassroots football tournaments in recent times in Lagos.
While assistant coach of De-potters, Apakhade Friday said the tourney brought some hidden talents to the limelight and commended the organizers for this initiative.
In his own comment, Badagry United Sports Director, Danladi Musa said he was happy with the organization, officiating, and standard of play by the participating teams and confessed that the tourney exposed his team to the world.
President of Jo Sportyne, Jekayinfa Olugbenga expressed gratitude to the organizers for the job well done saying that most of the players spotted by foreign scouts in the competition did well.
He however congratulated the Organisers for successfully hosting Jagaban Cup in Lagos.
He said the competition had not lived up to expectations but drew over 7,000 thousands of youths to witness the grand finale.
