Female national team, Super Falcons’ goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi has declared that the Nigerian squad needs adequate preparations if they are to enact a shock outing at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Speaking against the backdrop of last weekend’s draw for the 2019 Mundial, Oluehi told sports247.ng that the Falcons cannot be scared of holding their own in Group A against the hosts, France as well as South Korea and Norway, only if they get an adequate build-up programme.
The Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt safest pair of hands went on to note that there is nothing to be scared of in Group A, as she believes the other teams will also be worried that they are meeting the nine time African champions.
Oluehi, who was influential in Nigeria’s qualification for the World Cup and triumph at the recent Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana, added that pundits should not use the Falcons’ 8-0 friendly loss to France back in April as a yardstick to measure what will happen next year.
She stressed: “I can tell you that the World Cup is a different ball game. The only thing is that it is good preparation that will help us to do well.”
