The former Commissioner for Sports in Ogun State, Honourable Bukola Olopade, today called on Nigerian youths to stay safe as the #EndSARS protest across the country escalates.
Olopade, stressed that, in a much as Nigerian youths have the rights to protest, they also owe it a duty to stay alive to witness the actualisation of their demands.
He emphasized the need for unity among the youth, as he tasked the Federal Government of Nigeria to meet the demands of the peaceful protesters.
“It’s not out of place for people to protest. Such is an exhibition of fundamental Human Rights, I’m urging everyone at the forefront of the protest to stay safe and sound. They will all be alive to reap the fruits of the protest spearheaded.”
He urged Nigerians to look out for friends; loved ones and family members as the government find a lasting solution to the crisis which the protest has escalated to. This he said, will go a long way in being our brother’s keeper.
Olopade, also expressed his condolences to those who lost family members in the protest in Lagos. He prayed that God grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Olopade, who is also the Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, announced the suspension and postponement of the ongoing E-Sports Tournament, tagged the Esports Championship E-Series 2020 with the theme: “Fuel Your Passion.”
He disclosed that the postponement is coming due to the ongoing protest in different parts of the country which has resulted to some citizens losing their lives.
“We don’t want to endanger the lives of our competitors and have also decided to give due respect to those Nigerian youths who lost their lives in the protest in Lagos.
