The former Ogun State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Chief Bukola Olopade, has congratulated the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for emerging victorious in his attempt to return to office as governor, for a second term tenure.
Olopade, the Managing Director of Nigeria’s foremost sports marketing company, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, said Monday morning that, Dapo Abiodun’s victory at the polls is a big boost towards a successful hosting of the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival in 2024, as the same government that bidded for the hosting right for the festival will be fully on ground for stage the biggest sports fiesta in Nigeria.
He said: “It would have been a big deal convincing a new government to host a competition as big as the National Sports Festival. We thank God for continuity.
It will be recalled that the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC Dapo Abiodun won the Ogun State Governorship election.
Abiodun was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.
The incumbent governor, who is standing for a second and final term, beat his closest rival, Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 13,915 vote margin to emerge victorious.
He scored 276,298 votes to defeat Adebutu who polled a total of 262,383 votes.
Candidate of the Africa Democratic Party, ADP, Biyi Otegbeye came third on 94,754 votes.
