Olaitan Adams Oladare, competing in the heavyweight boxing category (92-kilo), emerged victorious at the African Games by securing gold after a stunning knockout victory over his Togolese opponent in the first round of the final match on Friday.
Expressing his elation after the match, while speaking to Sports 247 in an exclusive interview Oladare remarked, “I just won the African Games for the third time now, and I’m very happy about my performance this whole tournament. I’ve proved that I’m yet again the champion.”

Known as “big future” in the boxing arena, Oladare credited his experience and skill for his success in the ring, confidently stating, “When I get in the ring, you can see the future.”
Looking ahead, Oladare outlined his plans for the future, which include intensive training and preparation for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
He emphasized his singular focus on securing Olympic gold, having already qualified for the prestigious event last September.
Regarding Nigeria’s overall performance and medal tally, Oladare expressed optimism about the team’s capabilities, asserting, “We want the perfect ten.
Because now we have six more to go. Six more gold. We’re surely going to win. This is the best team we’ve brought out so far in a long time.”
In a message to his fellow Nigerians, Oladare extended his gratitude for their unwavering support and pledged to continue bringing home gold medals.
He concluded, “Thanks for supporting. Continue to support, and we’ll continue to bring the gold medals home.”
With Oladare’s impressive victory and the Nigerian boxing team’s overall success, they concluded the 13th African Games with an impressive haul of 8 golds and 2 silver medals, further solidifying their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in African sports.
