Head coach of Crown FC, Oladunni Oyekale has affirmed that Nigeria’s second tier football league, Nigeria National League is in trouble.
Oyekale’s team just missed out of promotion to the NPFL after NFF officially cancelled the 2019/2020 football season due to continuous spread of Covid-19.
In his response to questions asked about the NNL on the Family United by Football platform, the gaffer says the league has lots of issues.
“NNL is in big trouble because a league without sponsors cannot function. Football is all about money, without money it can’t be played smoothly.”
“So I think the biggest problem of the NNL is sponsors. If the Legue is not branded well, it can’t attract sponsors, so the administrators need to work hard.” He concluded.
The 2019/2020 NNL season had ended abruptly since December 2019 when it was suspended indefinitely due to logistical reasons.
