Nottingham Forest of England defender, Ola Aina is basking in the euphoria of his stunning goal that helped his side climb to third place in the English Premier League.
Sports247 reports that Aina was grinning from ear to ear on Saturday, after his pot shot sealed a 3-0 victory for Forest against visiting West Ham United.
It was a pleasant double surprise for the home fans, seeing Aina score a rare stunner and their side climb to third position on the EPL’s log.
Although they lie four points behind second placed Manchester City and six adrift of leaders, Liverpool, Forest fans will relish seeing their side ahead of both Chelsea and Arsenal.
This comes several years after Forest won back-to-back European Cup titles in 1979 and 1980 as well as the Super Cup in 1979.
While they barely escaped relegation at the end of last season, Aina is optimistic that his team can enact a big shock when the current campaign closes in May.
The former Hull City and Fulham right-back began with a reflection on factors that led to his amazing goal at The Forest Ground on Saturday and admitted it was a huge surprise from him.
“Sometimes it comes out,” he stated jocularly. “I like to surprise everyone. It bounced up right, and I was already knackered anyway, so I thought to myself why not just hit it.”
The former Chelsea youth team player, who has also previously starred for AS Torino of Italy in two separate deals, concluded with his opportunity to fantasize about a shock end to this season for his team.
“We are taking every game as it comes, and we are just working hard. I think that’s just the formula for us.
“We’ll just work hard and take each game as it comes. By the end of May, we’ll see where we are,” Aina posited
