Delta State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has promised more funding of sports development in the state, as he seeks to consolidate on their recent conquest of the 19th National Sports Festival in Abuja.
After seeing Team Delta emerge winners of the Abuja 2018 Games, Okowa told sports247.ng that he is not bound to relent, as he wants to see the state keep soaring high.
Okowa stated further that he will keep churning out more money for sporting efforts and structures in the state.
Okowa vowed: “We will from now henceforth put a lot of money into sports growth and development in our state.
“Going forward, we also want to oraganise an athletics competition for schools, starting from January.
“This will help us to discover more athletes from the state, and to also ensure that we retain top position on the medals table at the next sports festival in our neighobruing state, Edo.”
