Okowa Mourns With Musa Over Mother’s Death

Delta State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has joined in mourning the death of Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia star, Ahmed Musa’s mother, Mrs Sarah Moses last Thursday.

 

Sports247.ng gathered that Governor Okowa was taken aback by news of Musa’s mother’s demise and prayed that God will grant her eternal rest and comfort.

He also prayed to God to grant Musa and other members of his family the fortitude to bear the loss, which occurred at a hospital in Abuja, after a brief illness.

Okowa’s message, which was contained in a statement by his chief press secretary, Charles Aniagwu, also enjoined football lovers, stakeholders and all Nigeria’s to mourn with the Super Eagles assistant captain.

He noted that the deceased single handedly nurtured Musa and his four sisters, when their father passed on 21 years ago.

The governor added that the generality of Deltans and football lovers in the state and Nigeria as a whole are with the soccer star in prayers and succour during this time of grief.

Okowa’s message added: “We received the news as a huge shock and we are pained because a few months ago, Ahmed Musa led a team of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to Asaba on a friendly match with the Cranes of Uganda at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

“We share in Ahmed Musa’s sorrow and pains at this period and we pray that God will grant him the courage to bear the loss even as we pray for the repose of the soul of the departed mother.

“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, we mourn with our brother, Ahmed Musa on the unfortunate demise of his beloved mother Mrs Sarah Moses.

“As a state, we are in grief because Ahmed has always shown a high level of dedication, commitment and patriotism in all the matches he has played for Nigeria.”
