Onwubiko International Sports Academy (OISA) centre has been described as a world-class sports facility centre aimed at sports development and recreation providing the right platform and avenue for sports performance and professionalism as well as harnessing the talents of the budding talents within the immediate community where the facility is domiciled, Imo state and the country at large.
These were the assertions of the Proprietor and Founder of Onwubiko International Sports Academy (OISA), Hon. Innocent Onwubiko during an interview with Sports Writers on Tuesday at the OISA Ngor-Okpala sports centre, venue of the ongoing Nigerian Nationwide League one.
Hon. Onwubiko stated that the football academy and the world class centre came into being as his pet project aimed at giving back to his community and state as well as a platform to develop talents who will eventually become world stars in the near future. The sports administrator emphasized that he came back from the United States of America (USA) where he is based after emigrating abroad from the local scene.
Onwubiko enumerated the components of the OISA Sports centre as:
– Three natural soccer pitches
– Massive spectator stands
– Three four-storey building hotels
– Four storey building student/guest accommodation
– One indoor soccer pitch made up of artificial field with shock pad
– Olympic size swimming pool
– Gymnasium
– Multipurpose sports centre for Volleyball, Basketball and Tennis.
Hon. Onwubiko said that the timeline set for completion of the OISA centre is December 2021and upon completion of the multipurpose sports centre, it will serve as multisporting facility for the upcoming football academy, sports and event centre with the capacity to host national and international football, various sporting programmes and social events.
