Osinachi Ohale has couped the WOTM award in Super Falcons deserved victory against Burundi with the win securing a quarter finals slot for Randy Waldrum’s side.
The defender who plays for Deportivo Alaves in Spain couldn’t hide her excitement as she was cheered on by teammates and fans who gave her a standing ovation in the stands.
Ohale admitted after receiving the award, “this is the first time that I have ever received a Woman of the Match Award since I started playing for Nigeria in 2010 and it really feels so good.”
“When I remember all the hard work that my teammates and I have put in, it makes me smile,” explained Ohale to CAF Online.
Super Falcons recorded thier second straight win with 2 clean sheet in the tournament following a disastrous 2-1 opener loss to South Africa in Group C.
“We are at a crucial stage of the tournament so it was very important for us to play the way we did and we know how much it means to us. We have now qualified for the quarterfinals and we are ready for the challenge ahead.”
“We have grown from strength to strength from when we played our first game and this was a good show tonight. We want to continue to improve and get better. Our target is to win the trophy and we are getting closer.”
The impressive defender registered a 90.8% pass accuracy from making 76 passes and her partnership with skipper Onome Ebi keeps getting better every match.
