Agbeko Morgan’s 60th minute strike handed Remo Stars FC a narrow 1-0 victory over Cynosure FC in Match day three clash at Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
The Sky Blue Stars who played out a goalless draw against Wasiu Alabelewe FC on their opening game had the better of a quality Cynosure side who were top of Group B before this encounter.
Both sides started the game in confident fashion and Sunday Williams almost open scoring for the Sky Blue Stars in the 5th minute but Cynosure FC goalkeeper, Believe Iteme denied his 25yards effort.
The Abakaliki based side responded with a solid play but as soon as they entered the final third of the pitch, they struggle to carve out any openings as the Sky Blue Stars backline tightened.
Remo Stars had the best chance of the game when Sunday Williams raided down the right and dug out a cross which found Kingsley Akemini in the area, but he could only head his effort wide of the post.
In return, Cynosure had an opportunity on goal from a free kick when Larry Victor sneaked the ball past the wall to the top corner of the post but Dauda Emmanuel was quick to react in denying the attempt.
The Sagamu side took the lead when Sodiq Ismail pushed forward with ball and found Agbeko Morgan in the box and the forward calmly slot his effort past Believe Iteme into the back of the net.
Cynosure had a chance to draw level late on when Chisom Ikeyima latched onto a loose ball in the area, but his effort was well saved by Daudu Emmanuel who saved the ball brilliantly.
