Ogunjobi Gold Cup pre-season tourney defending champions Niger Tornadoes rued lady luck after they lost their opening fixture 2-0 to arch-rivals Kwara United.
Within six minutes of play, a penalty was award against the Ikon Allah team who barely had not settled into the game.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Osagie was adjudged to have fouled Ohanu of Kwara United after he denied him from scoring what should have been the 1st goal from open play.
Osagie then stood tall in goal for Tornadoes, then made amends for goalkeeping error by parrying Stephen Jude’s spot-kick to the corner.
Kwara United kept up the pressure and got the deserved first goal and second within two minutes.
As the clock got to the 30th minute, the Harmony Boys open their goal account after Stephen Jude make an amend for his penalty miss as he tucked into the net from a rebound as Tornadoes failed to clear their line.
Joshua Agboola doubled Kwara United’s lead two minutes later latching on to a rebound after goalkeeper Osagie couldn’t deal with Muritala’s tame shot.
The victory sees Kwara United go second in Group B behind Remo Stars on the same 3points but one goal difference less than the Sagamu based team.
Tornadoes and 36 Lions are placed 3rd and 4th on the log respectively.
