In a bid to spice up this year’s Ogunjobi Gold Cup Pre-Season Tournament, Ilorin fans should brace up to enjoy Night Football.
General Coordinator of the tournament, Tunde Shamsudeen, disclosed to OGC Media that; “With the class of teams we have invited and have confirmed their participation for this year’s edition, it’ll make no sense when games are played in an half full or empty stadium.
“So getting Ilorin fans to come watch not just Kwara United but other teams saw the need to introduce night games.
“Research has shown that Nigerians over the past few years who follow the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) are thrilled seeing live games play under floodlights.
“To buttress my point, look at the NPFL Play-offs that was held in Lagos, the Agege Stadium was always fill during the night games.
“The essence, players tend to give their best when the atmosphere is calm and for the fans the stadium is like a cinema during such time.”
The seventh edition of the prestigious Pre-Season Tourney is billed to kick off from Thursday August 29 through Saturday September 7, at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
