Ogunbote: Early Goals Will Give Rangers Victory

Rangers International of Enugu coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has disclosed that he will urge his lads to get an early goal on Sunday against USM of Algeria, in order to assure them of victory in the CAF Confederation Cup second leg fixture.

Ahead of the match at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, sports247.ng gathered that Ogunbote has set his mind on victory, as he aims to consolidate on The Flying Antelopes’ goalless away draw in the first leg.

Ogunbote added that, after aiming to score early, Rangers will also do well to stop their visitors from scoring to ensure qualification for the second round.

He acknowledged: “It will not be an easy match despite the fact that we will be at home, since the first leg ended goalless.

“The game can be turned on its head with just one goal from the visitors, so we will work hard to ensure we get an early goal that would help us calm down.

“An early goal will build confidence and make us settle well into the game. We cannot afford to allow them to score a goal because that will count against us.

“We also want to prove that the Nigerian teams can beat North African teams even though it may be difficult.

“I have told the players that if they want to be the best, they have to beat the best. We have a target and we are working hard to ensure we get there.

“We take each match as it comes and work hard. The support of the fans will be good for us because it will boost the morale of the players.”
