Chief tactician of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, has described his team’s 2-0 defeat to Kwara United as a minor setback, emphasizing the need to regroup and move forward.
The Oluyole Warriors saw their unbeaten streak come to an end in Ilorin, where Kwara United secured all three points with a goal in each half during the rescheduled matchday 20 clash.
Speaking after the match, Ogunbote, fondly known as “The Oracle,” admitted it was an off day for his players but remained optimistic.
“This is just a temporary setback. We need to pick up the pieces and take the positives from this experience,” he said.
He further stressed the importance of handling success properly to avoid complacency, noting that setbacks can serve as valuable lessons.
“Sometimes, when you don’t manage success well, you pay the price. However, when you experience defeat and understand why it happened, you have the opportunity to bounce back stronger. Our focus now is on making the necessary corrections and moving forward,” he added.
Ogunbote also acknowledged Kwara United’s determination, stating that their hunger for victory played a crucial role in the outcome.
Despite the loss, he remained confident about 3SC’s title chances, pointing out that with several matches still to be played and a close points margin among the top teams, the race for the championship is far from over.
