Imeko Afon Local Government on Saturday emerged Champions of the Under 13 and Under 15 Football Competition put together by the Ogun State Football Association.
In the final of the under 13 category, Imeko Afon Local Government boys defeated their counterpart from Ikenne 2-0 at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta.
Their Under 15 boys also had the better of Ado Odo Ota Local Government in the Under 15 final, they came from behind to win 2-1 at the same match venue.
Event host and Chairman Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi said the U13 and the Under 15 tournament is one of many others to come in the 2020 calendar year, confirming that several other tournament have been penciled down by the State FA.
Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi who doubles as an Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation appreciated everyone who contributed their quota to the success of the event and appealed to stakeholders to keep supporting the development of round leather game in Ogun state and Nigeria as a whole.
He said “While we appreciate God for the success of the event, it is also pertinent to say thank you to the workforce, it’s a long list so I can’t mention everyone, I say thank you”.
“It is our dream to continue engaging the young one’s through football, that’s one thing we have done over the years, and I make bold to say that we have several other tournaments already lined up for the year, he added”.
Dignitaries present at the Grand finale include the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ogun State, Engineer Abiodun, Director of Sports, Ogun State Sports council Mr. Sola Faleti, former chairman House committee on Sports,all Executives Board of OGFA and technical committee members of Ogun state Football Association, Chairman of Ogun State Referees council Mr Bosun Obayemi among others.
