Arrangements are in top gear to stage the Ogun State Governor’s Cup.
Chairman of the Ogun State Football Association(OGSFA) who also doubles as a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ganiu Majekodunmi made this known.
Majekodunmi said a Committee was set up by the state commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr Kehinde Oluwadare to midwife the competition, noting that the committee has so far done a lot of work to make the competition a reality.
The FA boss said the committee has proposed that the competition should be for those below 17 years of age, thus, making it an U-17 competition.
He added that the proposal include that each local government in the state will present a team of 22 registered players and three official.
Majekodunmi said the competition will be for both male and female, while there will be prize money for the 1st four placed teams at the end of the tournament.
He noted that prize money have also been proposed for individual awards.
He added that preliminary rounds of the competition will be played at the four zones of the state, Remo, Egba Ijebu and Yewa.
The NFF Board member, said the proposed date for the final of the competition is May 29th.
