The inspection tour included visits to the Arakanga Main Scheme (both New and Old Schemes), Adatan Booster Station, Oke-Temidire Reservoir, Alamala, Panseke, Ibara Booster Station, and the Abeokuta Area Office.

During the tour, Hon. Otubanjo emphasized the importance of upgrading these facilities to improve water service delivery and ensure sustainable access to potable water for the community.

“This inspection has provided valuable insights into the state of our water infrastructure. It’s clear that we need to prioritize proper maintenance, increase manpower, and make substantial upgrades. The government is committed to investing in these upgrades and utilizing advanced technologies to ensure reliable and safe water supply for everyone,” she remarked.

She also commended the dedication of the facility staff who continue to work hard despite challenges such as aging infrastructure, pipe leakages, and limited resources. Otubanjo assured them that the government would address these issues and improve their working conditions.

Alhaja Muinat Jaji, the Governor’s Consultant on Water, added that the inspection findings would inform a comprehensive reform plan focused on optimizing water production and distribution across Ogun State. The strategy will cover areas such as Papalanto, Ota, Ijebu-Ode Yemoji, Apoje Water Works, and various borehole schemes.

Jaji also encouraged residents to pay their water bills on time and report any damaged or leaking pipelines promptly to prevent contamination. She reassured the public that efforts were underway to restore water supply to customers who were disconnected due to road construction projects initiated by the previous administration.

Residents such as Mrs. Nofisat Olanrewaju from Obantoko, Abeokuta, praised the government’s initiatives, especially the introduction of prepaid metering, which she said had significantly improved access to clean water in her area.

Similarly, Arch. Sulaiman Oladipo, the Chairman of Workers’ Estate, Laderin, Abeokuta, expressed support for the government’s proactive measures and assured continued community backing for the ongoing water infrastructure improvements.
