The Ogun State Football Association (FA) held a meeting with Nigeria Football Coaches Association and other coaches at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta to discuss pertinent ways of developing grassroot players that will make the national team Sports247.ng reports.
In the meeting led by Elder Victor Idowu, the Secretary OGSFA and Dr. Bayo Oluwatoki, the Chairman of Technical Committee of OGSFA, coaches were made to understand the roles that stakeholders like them, the referees and match commissioners play in the progress of the sport in the state.
“The meeting is to bring together all the coaches in the state under one umbrella, making them to know the relationship and position of the referees and match commissioners with respect to the football association in the state”, Elder Victor told Sports247.
He further stressed how much the state had deviated from having National Team players whose roots come back to the state and how they need to return to such times and how much the coaches will benefit from it.
“It’s a new dawn and they are going to enjoy every benefit of being a coach. We are setting up a youth league in the state and it’s high time for the state to go back to its old ways of developing grassroot players from the state to the national team and it’s time to work with the coaches as we’re ready for business”, Elder Victor concluded.
