Organisers of the Ogun FA Cup have confirmed that everything is in place for the finals and the third-place match of the 2022 Ogun FA Cup, Sports247 can report.
According to a letter of a notification addressed to all the involving six clubs and made available to our reporter, the Chairman congratulated all the six clubs for making it to the final round of the tournament.
In the letter also, the clubs were notified that the 3rd place match has been scheduled to be played on Tuesday, 12th of July, 2022 while both the Men’s and Women’s finals will take place two days later on Thursday, 14th of July, 2022.
Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Remo Stars will face Nigeria National League side, Ijebu United in the year’s Men’s final.
Remo Stars defeated Gateway United 1-0 in the first semi-final fixture at the Gateway Stadium to book their spot in 2022 final, while Ijebu United knocked out Stormers SC 4:2 on penalties after the regulation time ended in a goalless draw to set up a final showdown against Gbenga Ogunbote’s men.
Having beaten Female Machine F.C of Owode Egba 2-1 in the first game of the two-leg Women’s final, Castmong F.C of Abeokuta will capitalize on the win in the first leg when the two teams meet for the last time in the return of the 2022 Women’s final.
Meanwhile, the two unsuccessful semifinalists, Gateway United and Stormers F.C are set to clash in the third-place match of the annual football showpiece.
All matches are to be played at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state, with the third-place match expected to start by 10 am while 12 am and 2 pm respectively have been set as the kickoff times for both the Women’s Final and Men’s final matches.
