Ogun State FA Chairman Praises Customs FC, Pledges Support for Grassroots Development

Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, an Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Chairman of the Ogun State Football Association, has lauded the Customs Football team as the pride of Ogun State, deserving of necessary support for success, Sports247 Reports.

During a working visit to Mr. James Ojo, the Controller of the Ogun Area I Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Majekodunmi highlighted the team’s significant role in providing job opportunities for the state’s youth and reducing societal ills. He described Customs FC as one of the oldest teams in the state, whose participation in the Nigeria Football League (NLO) has increased Ogun State’s representation in the league.

Majekodunmi’s visit aimed to engage stakeholders in discussions on grassroots sports development. He commended Controller Ojo’s efforts to ensure the team’s participation in various state-organized competitions.

In response, Comptroller Ojo reaffirmed the command’s commitment to partnering with the Ogun State Football Association to promote grassroots sports. He assured that efforts would be intensified to provide the necessary attention to the football team, currently playing in Division One of the NLO.

Impressed by Customs FC’s achievement, Ojo stated, “This is a feat that has been achieved as a result of hard work on the part of the players and the officials.” He revealed plans to write to the Comptroller-General of Customs for further assistance and pledged local-level salary contributions to support the team’s pursuit of national honors.

The visit concluded with the presentation of the official emblem of the Super Eagles Jersey to the Controller, symbolizing the shared commitment to advancing football in the state and the nation.
