Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced plans to expand the Ogun Teach initiative, increasing the number of teaching interns from the current 4,000 to 6,000.
The move aims to address the gap in the student-to-teacher ratio across the state.

Speaking at his office in Oke-Mosan during a meeting with the management teams of Teach For All and Teach For Nigeria, Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of the program and its success in providing teachers for underserved rural areas.
He highlighted that wages for Ogun Teach interns have been raised to N80,000, reflecting the administration’s commitment to improving education standards. “The Ogun Teach program has employed over 4,000 teachers, 2,000 of whom have been given permanent positions. We are now preparing to employ an additional 1,000, taking the total to 5,000, with plans to reach 6,000,” he said.
Governor Abiodun also noted the administration’s declaration of an emergency in the education sector upon taking office. Initiatives like the Learners Identification Number and the Education Revitalization Agenda have been introduced to enhance the education system.
He further assured continued absorption of qualified fellows from the Teach For Nigeria program, reaffirming the state’s commitment to becoming a model for the initiative in Nigeria.
The CEO of Teach For Nigeria, Mrs. Molade Adeniyi, commended the Ogun State Government for its unwavering support and commitment to education equity. She praised the administration’s open-door policy and integrity, which have fostered a strong partnership in addressing challenges and providing solutions to improve education access for all children.
