Ogu: Israeli Cup Victory Is Tonic Against Maccabi

Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel midfielder, John Ugochukwu Ogu has tagged his side’s victory in the Israeli Cup fixture last weekend as the right tonic they need to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Sports247.ng reports that, following Saturday’s hard-earned 1-0 victory against Beitar Tel Aviv has inspired him and his pals to believe that they can win as well in the league against their opponents’ city mates.

Although Ogu admits the Israeli Premier League is a different ball game from the FA Cup, he reckons that moving into the round of 16 with a last gasp 120th minute goal on Saturday, means they can equally win again on Tuesday, though they will be playing away this time.

Ogu hailed his team’s effort on Saturday, as Dia Saba’s 120th minute goal gave them victory against Beitar Tel Aviv and into the round of 16.

Ogu, who saw action for the full duration minutes, took to social media and stated that Be’er Sheva will now focus their attention to Tuesday’s league tie away at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

“To next round. Tuesday game is next,” Ogu posted, with a hint that his side will use the same motivation they had on Saturday to win again.
