Super Sand Eagles’ semi final hero in the 7-6 win against the hosts, Egypt during Wednesday’s semi-final at the 2018 African Beach Soccer Cup of Nations, Emeka Ogbonna is relishing Nigeria’s World Cup ticket.
Wednesday’s result not only took the Sand Eagles into their second straight final, it also booked a spot for them at next year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay, and Ogbonna told sports247.ng he was glad to be part of history.
Ogbonna, who scored the winning goal for Nigeria, which added to one he notched earlier in the game, said the team has delivered on one of two targets they set out to gain in the competition.
Ogbbonna declared: “I am happy that we beat the hosts, now we have to shift attention to the final.
“We have achieved the first of our two targets here, and I want to thank Nigerians for the support so far.
“It has not been easy, considering the low level of our preparations before the competition, but I am sure we can win the final on Friday.”
