David Okereke has signed with Serie A club US Cremonese from Club Brugge for an undisclosed fee, Sports247 reports.
The Nigerian striker joins the newly promoted side on a permanent transfer having spent last season on loan with Venezia FC who were relegated from the Italian top flight.
Okereke scored seven league goals in the 2021-22 season for Venezia. However, the The Winged Lions finished bottom of the league table.
US Cremonese announced the capture of the 24-year-old on their website, releasing the following statement:
“US Cremonese announces that it has definitively acquired the right to David Okereke ‘s sports performances from Club Brugge.
“Born in Lagos (Nigeria) on 29 August 1997, striker, Okereke in Italy plays first for Lavagnese and then for Spezia. With the Ligurian team he made his debut in Serie B in 2016 and reached 59 appearances, scoring 11 goals.
“In 2019 he leaves Italy to move to Club Brugge. With the Belgians he won two editions of the Jupiler Pro League, took the field a total of 71 times (11 in the Champions League alone) and found the way to the net on 15 occasions.
“In the 2021/22 season he returns to Italy to get to know Serie A closely: his experience at Venice ends with 7 goals in 32 appearances. Okereke also has a presence with the Nigeria Under 23 team.”
