Lamentations are rolling out of the mouth of Commonwealth Games female boxing bronze medalist, Yetunde Odunuga following her inability to make a trip to India for the World Women’s Boxing Championship.
The female pugilist, who shot to limelight at Gold Coast 2018, when she went all the way to the semi-finals, told sports247.ng that she is still hurt for missing out on the global spectacle in India due to lack of funds.
Odunuga revealed that a lot of effort and time went into her preparation for the championship, only for her to face the reality of not being able to make the trip.
He recounted: “I am so sad that I could not travel out of Nigeria, due to lack of money and I cannot compete at the world championship.
“That means my attention at the international level for her now shifts to next year’s All Africa Games as well as the 2020 Olympics qualifiers.”
