Ochebo Cherishes Return To Enugu Rangers

Former Super Eagles invitee, Michael Uchebo has expressed delight with his return to action on the domestic scene with Rangers International of Enugu, and believes he will revive his career with The Flying Antelopes.

After lining out for the Coal City side in their 1-0 loss to Lobi Stars of Makurdi in the Charity Cup on Tuesday, Uchebo told sports247.ng that he does not feel any complexes or embarrassment, as he only wants to play.

The former VVV Venlo of Holland, Cercle Brugge of Belgium and Boavista of Portugal winger, who was part of Nigeria’s squad to Brazil 2014 World Cup, said he is just happy to be playing football again.

Uchebo had not played actively since his controversial split with Boavista in June of 2017, but he now starred for The Flying Antelopes nine years after leaving the Enugu-based club for a deal in Europe.

Although many observers would see it as demotion, Uchebo explained that he is back home to pick up his career, while also hoping to bring his experience to bear on Rangers’ continental campaign next year.

“I am happy that I had the opportunity to play in the the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Super Cup at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

“I am also happy that we played the match after the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Uganda played goalless in an international friendly,” he said.
