Renowned Nigerian female wrestler, Blessing Oburududu has heaped praises on organizers of the 19th National Sports Festival in Abuja, but said the gains can only be realised once the event is sustained.
The Commonwealth and Africa Games champion, who won a gold medal the festival, told sports247.ng that sports, wrestling in particular, need new and regular churning out of talents.
Oburududu stated that the festival should be sustained as an avenue to see athletes that are waiting to hit the limelight exhibit their skills in a regular straight competition with top athletes.
Oburududu, who won gold in the 68kg women wrestling event at Abuja 2018 for Bayelsa State expressed sheer delight with her achievement.
She confessed: “I am happy to have won gold for my state and I am also glad with the opportunity to test myself.
“I am even happy that I was able to go against emerging wrestlers, who may not have been opportune to face me in other competitive outings.”
